Career Preparation Program
Career Preparation programs are educational programs that
prepare students for entry into the workplace or for further education
and training in a specific Career Pathway. Each Career Preparation
program consists of a number of support courses within a Career
Pathway in addition to 100 hours of work experience (WEX12A).
Successful completion results in a Career Preparation Certificate.
Career Preparation programs are for students who are interested in
exploring one or more career choices through school based courses and
related work experience.
Many BC employers are familiar with the outcomes of a Career
Preparation program. A Career Preparation Certificate is an excellent
attachment to the resume and graduation portfolio.
The goals of Career Preparation include:
- Providing opportunities for enhanced career development
activities.
- Providing students with entry level skills for specific
employment opportunities.
- Improving transition between secondary school and the workplace.
- Enhancing transition between the secondary and post-secondary
education systems.
Career Preparation programs are continually being
revised to better meet the needs of individual students. Students
should contact the Career Programs Coordinator for program and
registration information.
